2 PM:
The terrace of the "Deux magots" is as animated as ever, with people discussing all manner topics.
A perfect opportunity for us to get to know each other better, over a cup of French coffee.
We then go into the "Hune", one of the most famous booskstores
in France, which has provided many of the French intellectuals with their books.
Then, we walk down "Rue du Dragon", with its small apartment buildings dating back to the 18th century
and its hidden inner courtyards.
You will see a side of Paris that has not changed for centuries.
As we have reached the "Croix Rouge" cross roads, let us go and visit Lionel Poilane,
the famous baker. His store is a working museum, where his legendary bread is still being
prepared the way they baked bread a 100 years ago.
Within no time we arrive at the "Bon Marché", which we enter to salute Zola and pay our respects to
Coco Chanel in the perfume department.
Walking through the small and peaceful streets of the 7th arrondissement, we reach
the River Seine. With a small detour to admire the French Institute, we then cross the river
at the "Pont des Arts" to enter the "Rive Droite".
Next to the Louvre, where the tourists mass, lays "Cador". Cador is a tea salon from the Napoleon III
era, where the Parisian bourgeoisie still meet. Why not join them?
After a refreshing cup of tea and one of Cador's famous pastries, we walk towards
St Germain L’Auxerrois, where we stop to admire two unforgettable statues:
Sainte Marie L’Egyptienne (15th century) and St Germain (13th century)
Then we take the metro to Montmartre, but not to visit the "Sacré Coeur" or
the "Place du Tertre".
From Abbesses, we take "Rue Durantin" losing ourselves in a maze of narrow streets,
like "Rue Lepic", with its food stores, "Rue Caulaincourt", and the "Rue Francoeur", where
an inviting bistrot awaits us.
Here, we take the time to savour this magic moment and imagine what marvels could be concealed behind the ivy covered garden walls.
But where will we go for dinner?
That will remain a surprise ! But trust us, you won’t be disappointed.
